Adelaide – Governments fiddle. Our country burns.

February 12 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Australia is burning. The impacts of the climate and ecological crisis become more obvious every day. Yet the federal government have not declared climate emergency, and we are still waiting for policies that would address climate as a key driver of the bushfire disaster.

At this symbolic action, players of the violin, erhu, viola, cello and double bass will perform as we ask the question: ‘Why are our governments fiddling while the country, our home, is burning?’ and demand climate action NOW.

We are drawing on the image of the Emperor Nero who is said to have fiddled while Rome burned (though needless to say, history is more complicated).

Please bring water and your instrument if you have one. All ages are welcome to attend and to play.

We will be singing ‘Sing for the Climate’. Lyrics can be found here.
We are a group of Sheffield people wanting to raise awareness about the risks of climate change and have fun and sing while we’re doing it.
