Adelaide: On the Verge of Extinction

September 23, 2019 @ 7:45 am - 8:30 am

The seas are rising. So are we.

Current modelling of sea level rise for Adelaide predicts the Western suburbs will be flooded in less than 80 years unless we take immediate action. That’s Glenelg, West Lakes, Port Adelaide, Largs Bay, Semaphore and the Adelaide Airport under water.

We are raising awareness by disrupting traffic in the West. Life as we know it will change over the next few decades. A little delay in traffic on the way to work is a small discomfort compared to what the future might hold.

In this action, trained rebels will be blocking traffic (swarming) across Sir Donald Bradman Drive (possibility of arrest). Supported by sign holders along Sir Donald Bradman Drive (symbolic and not arrestable).

Everyone is welcome to join us for the non-arrestable part of this action. If you wish to swarm you must complete our Conscientious Protector training and be a member of an affinity group

Conscientious Protector Training 15/9

Optional dress code: wetsuits, goggles, snorkels, flippers, island holiday attire, floatation devices.

Our demands:
– The government must tell the truth about the climate crisis.
– It must act now to halt biodiversity loss and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2025.
– The process of change must be led by a citizens’ assembly on climate and ecological justices.
